40th Anniversary Blizzard Ball – Resilience

Saturday Feb. 25, 2017
8:00 pm
Karpele’s Manuscript Museum – Porter, Buffalo

Event Image: Courtesy of Buffalo History Museum

This winter, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary Blizzard of ’77. It pummeled Buffalo and paralyzed it for days, while the city shoveled itself out. Since then we’ve braved the storms of ’85’ (Mayor Griffin “Stay inside, grab a six-pack and watch a good football game”), ’93, ’00, ’06 (October Surprise), and recently the ’14 Knife (AKA Snowvember) Blizzard. Through thick and thin Buffalo has shown resilience to the weather. We always dig out. We always recover. And that is worth celebrating.

Join us at the end of February for a huge party! While you’ll enjoy two local musical acts, food from three Allentown restaurants, and an open bar, you’ll also be raising funds for the Allentown Association itself. Thank you!

DRINKS:
Full Open Bar 8P – 12A (21 and over)

FOOD:
Cantina Loco
Fatbob’s Smokehouse
Giacobbi’s Cucina Citta

DANCE:
8P – 10P The Buffalo Afrobeat Orchestra (Check them out on Youtube they are incredible)
10P – 12A DJ NATRON (You’ve likely been on the dance floor in Allen St Hardware when Natron gets the room lit up)

Dress to impress by getting creative within the Blizzard theme of the event!

NOTE: This event is in the beautiful Karpeles Manuscript Museum on PORTER AVE. There will be valet service available.

TICKETS:
Will be sold at a discounted rate of $50 through January 31. They will then go up to $60 through the event on February 25.

We want you to come down and have a ton of fun with your friends, but we can’t thank you enough for supporting the Allentown Association at the same time.

If you’re unfamiliar, here’s a brief description:

Who We Are

The Allentown Association traces its roots to the founding of the North Street Association in 1960, which sought to create an appreciation among neighborhood residents for the architectural treasures that exist on every Allentown street. The organization grew quickly to encompass the entire neighborhood and was incorporated in 1963 as the Allentown Association, Inc.

What We Do

Over the years, the Association’s activities, on behalf of the neighborhood, have varied due to changing circumstances. The Association adapts itself to the shifts in federal and state urban policies, and to changing administrations in City Hall. At times, it has stressed cultural and social activities; at times it has acted as a conduit for low-interest public loans to property owners, other times it has purchased and renovated historic properties. Always it has been a forceful advocate of historic preservation and a vigorous voice for the neighborhood’s interests in the arenas of policy and private economic influence.

Our Mission

The only purpose of the Allentown Association is to serve its community. It does that through efforts to beautify the neighborhood; to encourage historic preservation and property maintenance; to promote appropriate business development, to fight crime, and to protect and enhance Allentown’s unique urban ambiance.
