Buffalo’s Best Bets for Romantic Dining

Tags: ,

Looking for the top romantic restaurants in WNY?  Great romantic dining requires fine wine, extraordinary food, good company, and the right ambiance. We have a lot of restaurants that will fit the bill in WNY, here are just a few suggestions.

Downtown

Tempo Restaurant- First rate from the front door to the dessert- simple, elegant and classy. The  vast selection of flavors on the menu, and the wine list, means all you have to worry about is getting the flowers right. The Asiago Stuffed Rib Veal Chop is hard to beat, and since money is no object I vote for a Chateauneuf Du Pape.   581 Delaware Ave., Buffalo: (716)-885-1594

Rue Franklin

Rue Franklin

Rue Franklin -The “Rue” has been a staple in Buffalo for years. The area’s true French restaurant, it was recently purchased from the original owners by husband and wife team Corey (Chef) and Cheryl Kley, who have continued the tradition. If you’re thinking romance nobody knows the program better than the French. The service is as good as the food. 341 Franklin St  Buffalo, (716) 852-4416

31club

31 Club

31 Club – Soft lighting, an elegant bar and tastefully decorated, the 31 Club will impress. They are offering a four course “Aphrodisiac Menu” for the entire weekend (Feb. 14-17, $70) . Friday and Saturday they have live music. 31 N Johnson Park, Buffalo, 332-3131

Bacchus

Bacchus

Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant- Nicely situated on the corner of Franklin and Chippewa, these guys are always looking to create interesting dishes and their wine list is as goods it gets in WNY. International cuisines, small sampler plates and a boat load of wines by the glass offers the perfect atmosphere to explore the vino. 56 W Chippewa  Buffalo: (716) 854-9463

Trattoria Aroma

Trattoria Aroma

Trattoria Aroma – The food here will take you back to those romantic evenings in the Tuscan villa…hopefully. If not this is the next best thing in Buffalo. Nice selection of Italian wines, beers and great house-made pasta dishes. The Pappardelle alla Lepre Reisling (braised rabbit) is killer. 307 Bryant St, Buffalo: (716) 881-7592

Southtowns

Rick’s on Main – Rick’s is set on lovely Main in E.A., in a beautiful setting with a nice new bar area. The food is consistently good and their selection varied. Downstairs might be quieter for a couple, but upstairs is perfect for a group. 687 Main St, East Aurora: (716) 652-1253  ‎

David's

David’s

David’s Grille – Perhaps not the typical quiet getaway style romantic, David’s offers a great bar crowd, and good honest chow with attentive service. Try the Pan Fried Crab Cakes, David Eddy Salad (small) and the lamb is always good. 4247 North Buffalo Road, Orchard Park: (716) 662-4247

Northtowns

San Marco

San Marco

San Marco – The focus here is top quality and great service. The people are so friendly you’ll want to help out in the kitchen, but stay with your date and enjoy the outstanding Northern Italian cuisine. 2082 Kensington Ave. Snyder: (716) 839-5876

Black & Blue Steak & Crab – If your taste is more contemporary and you like a good steak or king crab,  this is the spot for you. B&B has a stunning decor that will make your date think you brought them to L.A., right up until you step out into the single digits. 5493 Sheridan Dr. Amherst: (716) 839-2525

Lombardo's

Lombardo’s

Ristorante Lomdardo – offering consistently outstanding, authentic Italian food, and a special menu for the 14th. Try the Shorgasm Oysters or the Wood Roasted Figs to start. Perhaps move to the Grilled Veal Rib Chop or the Striped Bass with Lobster Bisque for your entree? They also have great desserts or an espresso to finish. 1198 Hertel Ave, Buffalo:  (716) 873-4291 ‎

Bing’s Restaurant - is my sleeper pick. A cozy, old-fashioned Italian spot on Kensington near Harlem. Nice and quiet for true lovers; the food is great and the price is right. Try the “award winning” artichokes and the Polenta Lasagna if they are offered. 1952 Kensington Ave Buffalo (Snyder): (716) 839-5788
