72 beers on tap, a grand, old industrial building, long list of fine bar grub and even a childrens' menu. This place is a no brainer and a great addition to one of the best little food and drink towns in America. If you’ve never been to a Griffon Gastropub location, there’s a few things you should know. They take service very seriously. While the DNA of the pub is anything but formal, the service is excellent.
Walking into Roost, you might doubt that you’re in Buffalo, or on Niagara St. You’re reminded of the raw beauty of our post-industrial city and, seriously, how f*%^ing cool Buffalo is becoming through these developments in areas that were abandoned for years. Your fellow bougies are already sitting at their tables getting day drunk, and the servers and cooks are hustling around like our badass restaurant folk do in this city of movers and shakers. All that is reason alone to visit Roost. And then there's the food.
This Orchard Park institution and has been pushing out great Beef on Weck and down home fare pretty much forever. Thankfully, very little has changed, including the decor, since the early sixties, in spite of a recent reopening. Devoted customers claim the BOW (and beef in general) is the best in town and we find it hard to argue. We love the German Potato Salad., and the old fashioned folks atmosphere.
SEAR is a modern steakhouse situated on the first floor of the Avant (Embassy Suites Hotel). The relaxed, upscale environs are sophisticated yet comfortable. They offer a bar scene with a great vibe, a robust wine list and an innovative menu. We love the salads, the sliders, Lobster Mac and, of course, the steaks.
Ru's brings that little ole Polish fav to a whole new level - think chicken wing (with the fixin's of course), pulled pork, goat cheese, apple and more. plus they have 12 most excellent beers on tap, sammies and salads all in a beautifully renovated space.
We were sad to see Black Rock kitchen & Bar close, but The Dapper Goose has done a great job in softening the blow. This Black Rock gem offers one of the premier craft cocktail programs in town. The understated elegance gives off the perfect vibe for a romantic getaway dinner and the wines and cuisine to match.
Sure this place is awesome is the summer for the patio ambiance alone, but year 'round they serve up hard-to-find Portugese wines, and plenty of delectable food items perfectly paired with the vinho. They have a nice beer selection too and some of the best coffee in town.
