Summer is the best time to be in Western New York, we tell ourselves. Temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Sunsets over the lake. Hanging out until 9:30 on a weekday. The sound of reggaeton blaring out of cars on the West Side. The sound of classic rock blaring out of cars in West Seneca. Festival food. Beer tents. Cargo shorts.
Summer is great in these parts; however, live music does hit a bit of a lull in August, when touring bands pause in preparation for a busy fall. But that only means it’s a time for local music to step up, and there are two major local music showcases in August, Tonawanda Porchfest and Infringement Fest. There’s also a smattering of very talented touring acts coming through, from the NOLA-jazz sounds of Sunny Side to the hard rock of Jack White.
As always, this is not a comprehensive list of live music. If there’s a good one we missed, sound off in the comments. These shows may or may not be sold out (canceled) as you read these words. Now get out there and enjoy some live music!!
Did one of these events get canceled, rescheduled, or postponed? Send us a note!
