It’s the best day of the year!
On Sunday, March 4th, 10 bars and restaurants battled it out for the titles of Buffalo’s Best Bloody Mary, Best Garnished Bloody Mary, and Most Creative Bloody Mary. All of the contenders make a mean, competition-worthy Bloody Mary, but who are they really? From outdoor patios to amazing happy hour specials to drool-worthy menu options, these bars and restaurants have so much to offer all year round, for lunch, brunch, and dinner, inside and out. Let’s meet them shall we?
MEET THE RESTAURANTS:
This family run restaurant serves up authentic (and delicious) greek food in the heart of the Elmwood Village. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day, and the large bar selection here includes Greek wines that the executive chef hand picks on his trips to Greece~
Billy Club has the ultimate trifecta of delicious food, great atmosphere, and amazing service. They also have an extensive liquor selection, and a killer Sunday brunch. Duh.
Black Button Distilling
This Rochester born distillery has a tasting room on Swan Street with a relaxed atmosphere that is great for getting together with friends. They offer tastings and classes that feature their own spirits, as well as other great NY made products for your tasting pleasure.
The Burning Buffalo exudes Buffalo pride, from the history behind their name to the local beer and food to the strong Buffalo vibes. The food menu is small but mighty, featuring mouth watering pub fare with a twist. Plus, they have really good happy hour specials.
Colter Bay is a local hotspot with a cozy ski lodge atmosphere and an updated menu to match. With over 40 beers on tap, there is something here for everyone, including something called The Impossible Burger. Ever heard of it?
Vegetarians and vegans rejoice – this restaurant is for you (there are still meat options for you carnivores out there, but the bulk of the menu features innovative, veggie-friendly dishes). Bonus: live music on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays make for a great atmosphere if you are looking for a nice night out on the town.
Rowhouse Bakery and Restaurant
The Rowhouse is a café, juicery, artisanal bakery, full-service restaurant, specialty store, and craft cocktail lounge all in one gorgeous building. Each area has its own special feel with historic character and a modern flare…we double-dog dare ya to try and get seated in every area this year.
Rusty Nickel Brewing Co.
This brewery has a rustic, laid back atmosphere with bar games and a large beer garden in the back. Keep your eye out for fun events hosted here, like trivia, craft nights, open mics, and Sunday Fundays on the patio during summer.
Thin Man Brewery
Thin Man is the only brewery operating in the Elmwood Village. NBD. They serve innovative beers and tasty eats in a cool industrial setting, and on Sundays they have themed brunches (80’s, 90’s hip hop, and then some).
