Buffalo’s summer long run of unforgiving heat has been one of the best excuses to stay cool indoors and catch some live music. And after a rather slow run of quality touring acts coming through town, the upcoming late summer push will surely help make up for some lost time this season. Here are the 12 show that should be on your radar for the month of August.

Beatles Rooftop Tribute

DATE: August 4th

LOCATION: Hydraulic Hearth

Local cover band Stoneflower Buffalo will recreate the Beatles’ legendary farewell rooftop performance, captured in the documentary Let It Be, while Community Beer Works takes over the street side beer garden.

The NPR-approved experimental folk singer will bring her wistful trio, which features cellist Katie Weissman of Buffalo’s Tiny Rhymes, to Asbury Hall’s intimate basement.

After being sadly left off of the Tragically Hip’s final tour, Buffalo will host a fan fundraiser benefit for the terminally ill front-man Gord Downie. All ticket sales proceeds will go to the Gord Downie Fund at Toronto’s Sunnybrooke Health Sciences Centre.

 

 

Sleepy Hahas

The constantly changing psych-rock outfit will be playing its last show, just days after the release of its long awaited final album From the Bottom of a Warm Lake. Band friends Bearhunter, Space Cubs, and Deadwolf will help see the band, which will be performing with its classic lineup, off into the sunset.
