The weather sure may not feel like it, but summer concert season is nearly upon us. While recurring summer series at Larkinville, Artpark, and Darien Lake (and hopefully Canalside) already having us filling up our busy calendars for the next couple months, it’s the smaller shows, the ones that may have gotten lost in the shuffle, that we want to remind you about. Just in case you forgot to respond to all of those event invites you received, here are the 12 shows during the month of May (plus a few bonus ones) that should not be missed.


1. El Vy

2. The Darkness

England’s glammy arena rockers will dig up some guilty pleasure nostalgia as the band rides its “Back to the USSA Tour” to town.


3. JEFF The Brotherhood & Diarrhea Planet

The Memphis acts born to tour together will bring a night of ripping garage rock to the Delaware Ave hot spot, both with new tunes ready to test.


4. Sunflower Bean

DATE: May 8th

The buzzing NYC dream-pop trio heads into town on the heels of its sun-kissed, blog-worthy single, “Easier Said.” Buffalo’s urban surf act the Get Money Squad will provide local support.

DC’s offbeat garage punkers bring their soapbox to the Niagara St. multi-use space to team up with Sugar City stalwarts Mallwakers and JOHNS.

Snarling Motor City post-punkers are set to deliver a raucous midweek showcase at the downtown venue.

Flint, Michigan’s heart-on-his-sleeve troubadour jumps back on the road in support of his 2015 autobiographical release, Still Talk; Second City. The introspective Buffalo regular will be joined by local songwriters Alex Berkley and Sonny Baker.

While fans eagerly await for the June release of Radiohead’s next album, Buffalo’s long running instrumental rockers team up with members of Applennium to perform the Brit alt-rockers’ 2007 masterpiece, In Rainbows.

Offbeat dream-rock act will celebrate the release of its debut EP Habits at the go-to Allen St. hub. Humble Braggers, Bold Folly, and Moody Cosmos will round out the stacked local bill.
