Week of August 22 – August 26

Welcome to this week’s Project #HashtagStepOutBuffalo roundup! Each week we scour through all of your amazing photos lovingly hash-tagged with #HashtagStepOutBuffalo to find the top ten photos of everything and anything you’ve snapped in our great city.

But wait, there’s more! On Wednesday September 14th we’ll be hosting the first ever Buffalo Insta Exhibition where we’ll pick 500 of our favorite #hashtagstepoutbuffalo photos taken by YOU on Instagram to print as 5x5s and display during a three-hour event at Hi-Temp Fab in the Cobblestone District.

This one-of-a-kind art exhibition will also feature local artists and vendors, a live DJ, cash bar, and food trucks. The overall theme is the city we call home, Buffalo, so mark your calendars as we bring your photos to life for one night only!

To enter just submit your photos by including #hashtagstepoutbuffalo on your Instagram posts for a chance to be featured in the exhibition. The Buffalo Insta Exhibit is free to attend and the photo entry deadline is Monday, September 5th so get to tagging! For more details and to stay up to date on the Buffalo Insta Exhibit RSVP the Facebook Event Page!

Y is for…YMCA Central Building Constructed between 1901 and 1902, the YMCA Central Building was built to house the second oldest chapter of the YMCA in the United States. Designed in an English-Flemish Renaissance style, the building and the 10-story tower were sat on a prominent location of Joseph Ellicott’s original radial street design of Buffalo overlooking the intersection of Mohawk and Genesee Streets, which formed a triangular square in front of the building. The complex housed the YMCA chapter until the early 1980s at which time it was converted to offices. Construction of the Convention Center, directly adjacent, altered the street plan in Buffalo, removing the square in front of the building and obscuring most of the tower from view. #BisforBuffalo 23/26
