Big D and the Kids Table, May 13 at Mohawk Place

Cast you mind back to about a year ago, and you may remember all the hoops we had to jump through just to see live music. Everyone had to be seated. There had to be food. Capacity was very limited. It was like a cruel joke from someone who’d once heard about the plot of Footloose.

We’ve come a long way, baby, since those sad days, and there’s no better evidence than the impressive roster of live music laid out before us like a sonic bacchanal. Twohit wonder from the ‘90s, Sponge throw down a small club show at Mohawk Place on Cinco de Mayo, only for ska band Big D and the Kids Table to pick-it-up, pick-it-up on May 13. The next day, Town Ballroom hosts rapper Freddie Gibbs — possibly the most famous entertainer to come out of Gary, Indiana. Danish rockers Iceage bring big attitude and smoldering good looks to the Rec Room on May 19. Modest Mouse kick off Artpark’s 2022 concert season with a bang on May 27.

As always, this is not a comprehensive list. These shows may or may not be sold out (canceled) as you read these words. Please be sure to follow all venue guidelines regarding COVID stuff. Now get out there and enjoy some live music!!
