In Buffalo, we have food options galore. From the city to the suburbs, our region is crawling with unique local restaurants everyone is buzzing to try. Now, we’re not here to judge if you happen to frequent a chain every once in a while but with all of the choices, there are so many great reasons to eat local – all day, errrr day.
Local Kitchen and Beer Bar, located on Chippewa, is trying to inspire Buffalonians to eat local with their local focused menu, atmosphere, and charm that you just can’t get at a chain, no matter how hard they try.
1. Unique / Local focused menu items
Four words: French toast chicken wings. Yes, Local Kitchen’s brunch menu includes a delicious combination of French toast battered chicken wings with bacon bits and maple syrup dip. If that didn’t get you as excited as it did us, don’t fret- they also have an extensive menu full of sandwiches, burgers, salads, wings, pasta, mac and cheese and fish fry. Their signature UB wings are tossed in a pineapple curry sauce and finished with a drizzle of wasabi. And for brunch? You can find eggs benny, biscuits and gravy, and a must-try dish consisting of french toast stuffed with fig and bacon jam, topped with a basted egg, avocado gelato and cacao infused maple syrup.
2. Chill atmosphere you’ll want to hang out in all morning, afternoon and night
The best restaurants are the ones you never want to leave – and don’t have to. Local Kitchen boasts a pretty cozy and trendy atmosphere, perfect for anyone looking to have a beer with your friends, to watch the game, or to Sunday brunch. Fun fact- the gorgeous wood-paneled walls are made from repurposed wood from a barn in Clarence.
3. Did someone say happy hour?
We really love our happy hours, nothing helps to unwind after a long workday like a drink or two with friends. Now you have a new happy hour spot to check out- Local Kitchen has happy hours every Monday through Friday from 4 pm – 7 pm. Specials? $1 off craft beer and wine, $3 well drinks and $2.5o Labatt draft.
4. They gotcha covered for catering too
Owner Kim Hammerl actually started off owning a catering company for about 10 years before opening Local Kitchen, so not only is she experienced with food, but also very experienced with catering. Their massive catering menu (front, back) has pretty much every kind of platter, tray, or salad you could think of. They cater breakfast, lunch and dinner and only require a 24-hour notice for most items.
