The holidays call for time with loved ones. If you are looking for a way to enjoy the season, the National Historic Roycroft Campus located in the heart of small-town East Aurora has events for you and your whole family to take part in!

For a day trip getaway, the Roycroft offers opportunities for holiday shopping and local tourism or upgrade your Roycroft experience by extending your trip for a dine & stay in the historic Inn. Overnight accommodations are available 7 days a week and the restaurant is open for lunch Wednesday – Saturday, and dinner 7 days a week & Sunday Brunch!

1. Holiday Art Show

December 4th & 5th, 2021 | 10am to 5pm

The Roycroft Holiday Art Show will take place in several shopping locations throughout four Campus buildings and will feature many local artists and vendors. Plus, you don’t want to miss a visit on the grounds with their furry friends from Thistle Creek Alpacas! 

Masks will be required for all staff, vendors, and attendees inside the Campus buildings.

2. Shop Local for the Holidays at the Copper Shop Gallery

If you are looking for a unique gift this season, swing on by the Copper Shop Gallery. The Copper Shop is an artisan gallery and gift shop housing the work of over 100 local and international artists as well as a wide variety of home goods and gifts. Keeping the ideals of the original Roycrofters in mind, the Copper Shop prides itself in providing workmanship in the traditions of Head, Heart & Hand craftsmanship. Handmade works include mediums such as: wood, metal, glass, ceramics, block prints, etchings, paintings, wearable art, jewelry, as well as seasonal holiday ornaments and décor.

The Copper Shop will be open extended hours starting December 7th:

Tuesdays – Saturdays 10am to 5pm, Sunday 12/12 and 12/19 11am to 3pm 

Plus, you’ll find special sales on Sundays:

3. Take a Historic Walking Tour

Have family in town for the holidays? Explore the Roycroft Campus on a guided tour! Museum Tours are available Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays through December 21st  – advance registration highly recommended. 

Museum Tours | $15 per person

The Museum Tour begins on the Campus grounds with an introduction to the Roycroft history, then transitions to an exploration of the artifact collection on exhibit in the Campus Museum. Through a combination of rotating and permanent exhibits, visitors can see rare, one-of-a-kind artifacts, and learn more about the people, products, and philosophy that made Elbert Hubbard and the Roycroft an important part of the Arts & Crafts Movement. This tour lasts approximately 1 hour.

Campus Tours | $35 per person

Available by private appointment ONLY

Learn fun facts and stories about the past, present and future of this National Historic Landmark and authentic Arts and Crafts community! Your tour will be facilitated by a staff member or docent who will also take you around the Campus grounds and buildings to explore the architecture and history of the Roycroft. This tour is primarily outdoors (so dress warm), but it ends in the Campus Museum so that guests can view the artifact collection on exhibit. This tour is approximately 1.5 hours (including museum).

4. Give Back by Attending a Fundraiser

It is the season of giving and what better way to give back than attending an event at the Roycroft. Enjoy a drink and demonstrations at this upcoming fundraising event.

A Whiskey for Garcia | December 9th at 6pm | $65 per person

Whiskey sommelier and Roycroft Campus Board President, Erik Eustice will lead you through this two-hour, one-of-a-kind evening that will also include a printing demonstration on their historic presses. Your ticket to this event includes three whiskey samples, a souvenir glass, a small food pairing kit, storytelling and information about the history of the Roycroft Campus, guided tastings, and good conversations, all while supporting the preservation and restoration of a National Historic Landmark. The Roycroft Campus is grateful for the ongoing support of Aurora Liquor.

Note: You must be 21 or older to attend; because guests will be eating and drinking during this event (which will make mask-wearing impractical at times) we are requiring all attendees to be fully vaccinated.
