The holiday season is coming up sooner than you think. Aka it’s time to start talking about one of our favorite topics of all time — holiday markets.
When it comes to the holidays, Hamburg goes huge – not big, huge. Christmas in the Country is an annual tradition that happens at the Hamburg Fairgrounds – a tradition 35 years in the making. It’s hard to believe, but it started as a modest craft show. Now 400+ artisans from across the nation come to showcase their work.
This holiday artisan marketplace is major for Western New York, drawing in 60,000+ visitors in just four days. Wowza!

Given the size of the marketplace, seeing and doing everything in a single day is challenging/possibly impossible. Luckily, you can come back. When you purchase a ticket, you’re able to return for multiple days, just stop by the information booth at the event to get complimentary return pass to come back. This way you can explore at your own pace.
Of course there are drinks. Because it’s Buffalo. There’s an entire tavern filled with craft beer, boutique wines, and small batch spirits. Plus, a sizable food truck rodeo. Perfect for when you need a break between shopping sprees.
The transformation is really incredible, and we have Buffalo to thank for it. According to the organizer of the festival, the patrons and artisans have made Christmas in the Country what it is today.

If you’re looking to get some gift shopping done, this is just the place. The 400+ artisans are spread out over five buildings at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. You’ll see all sorts of handcrafted creations throughout the fest. Think holiday gift items galore!

P.S. Giving back to the local community has always been an integral part of this event. This year, participating non-profit groups include The PUNT Foundation, Churches in Action, Hamburg Eden Animal Rescue Team (H.E.A.R.T.), Variety The Children’s Charity of Buffalo and the Hamburg Presbyterian Church.
Remember – regardless of whether you come for one day, the weekend, or all four days, you’re only paying one admission charge for one of the area’s largest artisan marketplaces.
