Buffalonian’s dread this time of the year when all of the summer festivals are coming to an end and the cooler weather is just around the corner. We have a tendency to associate the end of summer with winter. Well, don’t fret! I know our fall is usually short, but we still have that month or two with perfectly crisp cool, yet sunny (hopefully) weather to enjoy all of the festive Buffalo beer and wine events just around the corner! Here are a few coming up that you just have to buy tickets for!

 

Wine in the Wind Sail on the Spirit of Buffalo

One Naval Park Cove, Buffalo, NY 14202 

Set sail aboard the Spirit of Buffalo every Wednesday from 6pm-8pm or 8:30pm-10:30pm for Wine in the Winds! Now through October 1st you can tour the Buffalo waterfront while snacking on a spread of cheese and crackers and enjoying wine from local vineyards. The price is $38 per person and spots are filling up quickly. Call the Spirit of Buffalo to book your seat today.

Buffalo’s Best Craft Beer & Music Festival

Head down to the Kissing Bridge Central Area on Saturday, September 6th from 1pm-8pm for Buffalo’s Best Craft Beer & Music Festival! Feel free to bring blankets or chairs and gather around to take in the scenery and listen to live music from Mike Nugent, Leroy Townes & the Lone Stars, The Stone Country Band, and The Informers. Over 20 craft beers and ciders will be available to sample from 1-5pm and Willie’s Smokehouse will be serving some juicy BBQ favorites! Ticket prices are $25 pre-sale, $35 at the door, and $5 for Music.

Silo City Tapped

92 Childs Street, Buffalo NY

On Saturday, September 13 from 2:00pm-10:00pm, Silo City Tapped will have over 20 craft brews, a limited wine selection and some of the city’s greatest food trucks. Parking is free, admission is $5 and you can purchase food and drink tickets at entrances and inside festival. The event features live music from 6 different bands, free silo tours from Explore Buffalo, and delicious food from Buffalo’s best food trucks like Amy’s Place, Frank’s Gourmet Hot Dogs, and much more! Buy a round trip ticket for the Queen City Ferry, that runs from 2pm-10pm, for $15  or take advantage of the free parking; you don’t want to miss this!

Templeton Landing’s Oktoberfest Kick-Off Party & Lake Erie Pub Crawl

‘Tis the season for Oktoberfest celebrations! Templeton Landing will be the starting point for Buffalo’s only waterfront pub crawl, ‘The Oktoberfest Kick-Off Party: Lake Erie Pub Crawl,’ on September 13th at 12pm. For a reasonable price of just $15, you have a ride via water transportation to the locations involved in the event. This, of course, includes Templeton Landing, The Hatch, Liberty Hound, Canalside, and Swannie House. Boats return to each location to give you a ride to the next restaurant every half an hour until 5:30pm. If you’d like to participate in Oktoberfest only, Templeton Landing will have DJ Milk, live music by the Genesee Valley Alpine Band, German activities, and plenty of authentic German cuisine. It’s Mervelous: a Murder Mystery/Wine Pairing Dinner

Join talk show host, Griffin Mervelous, to unveil the mystery behind the murder of talk show sidekick, Sullivan Edwards! Be right in the action while savoring a four course wine and food pairing. The event will take place on Saturday, September 27 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Ticket prices are $70 per person or $250 for a group of 4.

Hop Kitchen

Hop Kitchen is a celebration during Buffalo Beer Week 2014, of Buffalo’s advancing food and beer scene! On Thursday, October 2nd from 5:30pm – 7:30pm, 5 of WNY’s best chefs will distribute tastings that pair perfectly with beers from five local breweries. The chefs involved in the event are Jennifer Boye of Mansion on Delaware Avenue with John Russo of Hamburg Brewing Company, Adam Goetz of Craving with Tim Herzog of Flying Bison Brewing Company, James Roberts of Park Country Club with Ethan Cox of Community Beer Works, Josh and Satomi Smith of Sato with Matt Kahn of Big Ditch Brewing, and Jill Gedra of Nickel City Cheese & Mercantile with Jeff Ware of Resurgence Brewing Company. During this event you will have the amazing opportunity to speak with the chefs, meet the brewers, and relish an evening of palatable food and drinks! Tickets are $55 each and can be purchased online.

The 11th Annual Beer and Wine Festival

6557 Holiday Valley Rd, Ellicottville, NY 14731 

On Saturday, November 8 from 3:30pm- 7:30pm, the Holiday Valley Resort, the Ellicottville Brewing Company and Southern Tier Brewery will join forces to hold the 11th Annual Beer and Wine Festival at the Holiday Valley Lodge. With over 100 craft beers and some of the best wines from New York, Southern Ontario and Ellicottville vintners, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Ticket prices are $50 pre-sale through October 31st and $60 starting November 1st, so be sure to purchase them in advance.
