1. Southern Tier Brewing to Release New Summer Variety Pack

Southern Tier Brewing is thinking about the warmer weather with their new Summer Variety Pack, which features four new wheat ales with flavors of mango, raspberry, grapefruit and blueberry. The Summer Variety Pack is a 12-pack (12oz. cans) that is only available this season and features Mango Rays, Raspberry Shine, Ruby Red Surf and Blueberry Sea. Each beer clocks in at an easy drinking 5%. This Summer Variety Pack will be available soon wherever great craft beer is sold and at all Southern Tier Brewing taprooms.

2. Community Beer Works to Open New Taproom on Elmwood

Community Beer Works has announced plans to open a second location at 976 Elmwood Avenue later this year. The new location will be located on the corner of Elmwood and Bidwell Parkway. The 5,260 square foot space will offer a focus on beer & food pairings, unique collaborations, events, curated grab & go options and more. They will also offer park-friendly entrees and to-go options. Additional offerings will be announced at a later date. Their current 7th Street location will remain open, although CBW will keep their options open as to how to envision the future of the space.

3. New York State Craft Brewers Fest Returns to Canalside June 24 

The New York State Craft Brewers Festival: Buffalo returns to Canalside on June 24. The annual event is produced by the New York State Brewers Association and Western New York Brewers Guild. This year will feature fresh craft beer from over 50 breweries from every corner of the state, and attendees can meet the people who make the beer they love while enjoying live music, local food trucks, artisan vendors, axe throwing & more. 4. 12 Gates Brewing Taps Exclusive New Porter in Ellicottville

12 Gates Brewing has tapped their first exclusive beer at 12 Gates of EVL, Peruvian Porter, made with Organic Peruvian Coffee Beans from Ellicottville Coffee Company. This beer is light-bodied and full of flavor with roasted coffee flavor with a subtle hint of chocolate. According to head brewer Matt Gordon, the brewery aimed for a lighter “summer” porter that focused more on the chocolate notes, while the beans bring all of the roast and coffee flavors. Peruvian Porter is on draft now.

5. Steelbound Brewery 5th Anniversary Weekend Celebrations

Steelbound Brewery & Distillery is taking the entire weekend, May 5-6, to celebrate their fifth anniversary. The brewery will introduce two new tequilas for Cinco de Mayo on May 5, Blanco and Reposado, will be giving away free margarita glasses and will have food and drink specials. Then May 6 is Derby Day, as Steelbound will release four new bourbons, NY aged 2-years in American white oak, NY aged in a California port barrel, Powerhouse and High Rye, and will have food and drink specials. Wear a derby hat and your first drink is just $1. Celebrations will happen at all three of Steelbound’s locations (Ellicottville, Dunkirk, Springville).

6. Cinco de Mayo Kegs & Eggs at Resurgence Brewing

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Sunday brunch at Resurgence Brewing during their special Cinco de Mayo Kegs & Eggs on May 7 (10am). The event will feature food, cocktail and beer specials, including a Mexican-style Cold IPA (brewed with lime & El Dorado hops), Tres Leches Blonde Stout (blonde stout with vanilla), Tequila Pilsner (lightly fruited with prickly pear, barrel aged in a tequila barrel), Baja Seltzer (orange seltzer with lime), Oaxaca Mexican Lager (conditioned on Agave syrup, tangerine puree, and a Central American herb – Ruda). The brewery will also offer a margarita flight – Classic, Strawberry, Pineapple Jalapeño, Blackberry.

7. Design the Next Great Thin Man Brewery Beer Can

Want to have your artwork featured on Thin Man’s next release? The brewery has teamed up with art collective Leftern to offer a shot at having your work on display at their Elmwood taproom and on an upcoming beer label. All design assets can be found here. The winning design will be featured on an upcoming beer label, as well as on a 36” x 48” canvas in Thin Man’s Elmwood taproom (in the game room for 6 months). Two runner-ups will have their design featured in the taproom with a plaque. All entries are due June 1 at midnight.
