Just when you thought the dust might possibly be settling for 716 Food and Sport, here comes 716 Club House, A.K.A. the 716 food truck.
Now before you go off citing long waits, non-existent service and high prices, you should know that we’re a fan. And that we believe every restaurant should have a chance to get their bearings before getting the wrath of unhappy patrons expecting perfection. Our several experiences at 716 have been enjoyable with good food and friendly service. Plus the giant TV is awesome and the bar area like nothing else in Buffalo. #sorrynotsorry
716’s food truck will offer five sandwiches including a Fried Bologna Helicopter on a Costanzo Kaiser roll ($8.75), Chicken Nacho Hoagie with corn tortilla strips ($8.75), and a Portobello Philly on a Hoagie Roll ($9). The solo salad on the starting menu is their Sesame Asian Salad ($8.25).
Sides include their delicious Buffalo Mac and Cheese ($3) – which if you ask me doesn’t exactly taste like a traditional “Buffalo” style, but is super good, and Jicama Slaw ($2.50).
Based on what we experienced off the truck recently, the portions are a good size and what we believe to be worth the cost. I recommend getting the Chicken Nacho Hoagie and a side of mac and cheese.
Starting Wednesday, April 15, the truck will feature a regular menu plus it will periodically offer specials based on seasonality and holidays, explained HARBORCENTER Communications Manager Don Heins.
716 Club House also brings a new aspect to the Buffalo food truck scene – an app to be used to find their daily location as well as their long term schedule. It’s called 716 Food and Sport and also offers information on the 716 restaurant and bar.
Aside from the app, you can find updates on the 716 Club House’s location by following them on Facebook and Twitter. Their first official stop will be at Solar City (1341 South Park Ave Buffalo 14220) on Wednesday from 11:30am – 1:30pm.
