Summer’s second act has arrived but that doesn’t mean live music options are slowing down anytime soon. In case you have been out of the loop lately, we put together a killer list to help you make some tough choices. Here are the 8 must see shows during the month of August.



DATE: August 9th
LOCATION: Mohawk Place
COST: $12
Frenetic Montreal indie act will be making a pit stop at the downtown music hot-spot. Sonny Baker will be opening the show with his full band.

All Night Kayne Party

DATE: August 12th
LOCATION: Waiting Room
COST: $10
The Delaware music venue will host a night of music, fashion, and art, all inspired by the enigmatic hip hop superstar.


The Warp/The Weft

DATE: August 12th
LOCATION: Nietzsche’s
COST: $5
The avant-garde Poughkeepsie act will be teaming up with soaring synth trio Humble Braggers and the intriguing new act Smokin’ Black Tar at Allentown music institution.


Downtown Boys

DATE: August 16th
LOCATION: Sugar City
COST: $7-$10
The wild, politically-minded punk act out of Providence will bring its recent buzz back to Buffalo to perform at the Niagara street DIY space.


Taking Back Sunday

DATE: August 19th
LOCATION: Waiting Room Summer Stage
COST: $30-$40
Emo nostalgics will be packing Waiting Room’s outdoor stage when the genre heavyweights gear up for an end of summer performance. Local hardcore heroes Every Time I Die will open.



DATE: August 19th

Buffalo’s latest love affair with Canadian rock continues as the rising Ontario group is set to perform at the latest installment of Edgefest.


Dreambeaches & Oh Manitou

DATE: August 24th
LOCATION: Lockhouse Distillery
COST: $5
The Cobblestone Live alumni will team up for a double-bill as the distillery’s summer concert series nears season’s end.



Shock and Awe: La Luna Lives

DATE: August 26th
COST: $20-$26
Rise Collaborative will be teaming up with the former Buffalo DJ crews for a late night warehouse dance party. The location of the event will be revealed the day prior.
