Thomas Rhett will play at the Taste of Country on June 8th

The zodiac signs for June are Gemini and Cancer. Gemini are drawn to music and socializing, while Cancers are inclined to appreciate art and hang out regularly with friends. I think you know where we’re going with this shaky premise: June concerts.

Even if the stars aren’t aligned for you right now, there’s no reason you can’t get out and enjoy some of the killer shows popping off this month.

1. Nathaniel Rateliff, The Head and the Heart

DATE: June 2nd

COST: $40, $45 (day of)

Facebook event

Nathanial Rateliff had a white-hot hit on his hands with the rollicking “S.O.B.”, but it looks like he’s going the ‘late night, slowing-burning cigarette’ route this time around. The Head and the Heart play catchy folk-pop ditties.

2. Method Man & Redman

DATE: June 7th

LOCATION: Canalside

COST: $5

Facebook event

Becky isn’t going to this Canalside concert. Don’t be Becky. Just watch this Yo! MTV Raps performance from the 90s and buy your damn ticket.

3. Taste of Country – Thomas Rhett, Chris Janson, Scotty McCreery

DATE: June 8th

LOCATION: Coca-Cola Field

COST: $35

Facebook event

What is the current state of live country music, you ask? WYRK’s annual Taste of Country concert is where you go to find out. And have a Rootin’, Tootin’, Hee-haw, Hee-haw, Finger-Pistols-In-The-Air Good Ol’ Time.

4. Kerfuffle – AWOLNATION, Matt and Kim, Manchester Orchestra, Robert Delong

DATE: June 16th

LOCATION: Canalside

COST: $35

Facebook event

Kerfuffle always seems to have a lineup that you can’t eff with, and this one is absolutely untouchable. Tickets are selling faaaaast, so get ‘em while you can.

5. Thin Man Brewery’s Second Anniversary Summer Solstice Street Festival

DATE: June 16th

LOCATION: Elmwood Avenue between Utica Street and Hodge Avenue

COST: $15, $20 (day-of)

Facebook event

By some cruel twist of fate, the Thin Man street party is the same day as Kerfuffle. So, you have a choice to make.

If it makes your decision any easier, the Thin Man event will be more intimate, feature all local music and have way better food and drinks. RADARADA will be playing chilled-out hip-hop, Humble Braggers do indie-pop, Funktional Flow will be laying down funky grooves and so many other talented local musicians will be blessing the stage.

6. Kiss the Summer Hello – Alessia Cara, Why Don’t We, Dua Lipa

DATE: June 21st

LOCATION: Canalside

COST: $30, $70, $200 (VIP)

Facebook event

Our friends at Kiss 98.5 are throwing their annual summer party. Won’t you join them? Alessia Cara, Why Don’t We, Dua Lipa and others will be playing the songs that you are hearing ab-so-lutely-every-freaking-where right now.

7. Zac Brown Band

DATE: June 24th

LOCATION: Darien Lake

COST: $35.75 – $81.75

Facebook event

Toes in the water,

Ass in the sand.

Darien Lake rides and,

The Zac Brown Band.

You’re welcome.

8. Poison, Cheap Trick

DATE: June 26th

LOCATION: Darien Lake

COST: $29.50 – $99.50

Facebook event

Bret Michaels just wants to find love, you guys. Did he find it on Rock of Love or the Rock of Love Bus? I guess we’ll never know. Anyway, he’s playing Darien Lake with the band that made him reality show-famous.

PS. Your cool-kid hipster friends say the real reason to go is to see power-pop legends Cheap Trick.
