Rooted in Tradition

As a business with a rich family history, Vin-Chet Gluten-Free Bakery has a long, storied past that dates back multiple generations. Originally founded in 1946 as Vin-Chet Pastry Shop, owners Vincent Spampata & Chester Matuszak partnered up to run the business after returning from WWII.

Vin-Chet Pastry Shop quickly became a beloved local staple, and continued on as the premier bakery in Buffalo for over forty years after that. In 1998 when the bakery was purchased by the Mangano family, the bakery’s legacy carried on as they became widely known mostly for their fine Italian pastries, polish coffee cakes, cookies, wedding cakes, and more.

Today, owner Joe Mangano holds a bakery science degree and is the mastermind behind recipe development at Vin-Chet.

Lots of trial and error goes into the process of developing and testing recipes, and this especially became the case when the business began to shift away from traditional bakery products and into gluten-free products around 2007.

Buffalo’s Certified Gluten-Free Bakery

It goes without saying that Vin-Chet Bakery’s mission is to provide exceptional gluten-free baked goods and more. But the Vin-Chet team goes above and beyond when they say that their products meet or exceed the expectations of the taste and texture found in traditional baked goods where wheat is the main ingredient.

Basically, if the Vin-Chet team wouldn’t eat it themselves, they wouldn’t sell it to you.

Diving deeper into their gluten-free journey, Vin-Chet Bakery’s products became fully certified gluten-free through the Celiac Sprue Association (CSA) in 2012, making them the only CSA-certified, exclusively gluten-free bakery in Western New York.

Just two years after that, the decision was made to turn the entire facility 100% gluten-free— and they’ve never looked back.

Today, Vin-Chet Bakery produces 175+ varieties of gluten-free baked goods at their location on Kensington Avenue, and supplies their pizza crust, desserts, breads, rolls, breakfast items, and more to 100+ grocery stores, local pizzerias, and restaurants across the country. So it’s safe to say they’ve come a long way since their small beginnings!

Gluten-Free Products, Baked Fresh

Vin-Chet Bakery proudly bakes all of their gluten-free products fresh 6 days a week, making almost every day a perfect time to stop in and see what they’re all about.
