The Paloma: Like a Margarita, Yet Not Like a Margarita at All

I arrived at ABV to celebrate my friend’s birthday with dinner and drinks.  It was my first time visiting the new Allentown establishment and I was pretty pumped because I’d been hearing great feedback about it.  Upon arrival, I noticed a bustling bar and a fun atmosphere.  I enjoyed the unique decor consisting of old record covers and window panels. The bar, which is right there to greet you when you walk in, displayed their craft beers, spirits, and cocktails.
Now, even though their tots served with apple wood bacon/scallion sour cream and cider apple sauce are reason alone to make the trip, if you’re into cocktails and great beer, that’s a huge plus. We sat at the bar to order a cocktail before being seated for dinner, and after much deliberation I finally chose just one from the tempting cocktail menu.  The Paloma was my section, combining Milagro Silver Tequila, grapefruit, simple syrup, lime, topped with sparkling water ($8).  It was refreshing and light with a strong citrus flavor that was tamed by the simple syrup. A refreshing twist on the average margarita.  If you like juicy burgers, plenty of flavorful tots and a generous selection of drinks to chose from, ABV is a great spot to be.
