The Adventure

The Amazing Grace Scavenger Hunt in Lewiston

If you’re like most adults on the planet, you probably haven’t taken part in a Scavenger Hunt in decades. You probably can’t remember the last time someone handed you a long list of items to find, photograph, or hunt down with your friends. Well, this May it’s time for you to learn that Scavenger Hunts aren’t just kids-play. How? By taking part in the Amazing Grace Scavenger Hunt in Lewiston, NY to benefit The Mount St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.
Here’s the Need to Know Details: The event takes place Saturday, May 7 at 4 p.m and teams of anywhere from 4 to 10 people are encouraged to sign up. Regardless of team size, it’s $25 per person and the winning team splits a cash prize of $500. Everyone who partakes in the hunt is invited to the after party at the Lewiston Events Center which features drinks, food, basket raffles, and more. Find the sign-up form and full information at The Amazing Grace Scavenger Hunt Facebook page.
How It Works: At 4 p.m. sharp each team is given a packet with a list of 50-100 places, questions, items they need to track down in Lewiston. The clues can require you to take photos of your team in certain places, answer trivia questions and/or do physical activities. You will 100% absolutely need a fully charged smart phone to compete the clues (as if you would show up without one). Based on their difficulty, each clue in the hunt is worth a different amount of points. The team with the most points at the end of two hours wins. Now this all may sound simple, but in order to track down the most points your team will need to sprint, hustle, breathe heavy, jump, don costumes, karaoke, and maybe even salsa dance in order to win.
Why You Should Do It:

  1. It’s for a #goodcause – The Mount St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation which supports important clinical education, healthy activities, capital improvement an critical patient-focused projects at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital and its community.
  2. Skip your usual workout – Trust me, if you come to compete, you’ll be tired, sweaty, and whooped after two hours of scavenger hunting. You’ll have burnt more than enough calories to make you feel good about dinner and a drink.
  3. You’ll fall in love with Lewiston: The team that organizes the Amazing Grace Scavenger Hunt does a phenomenal job combining civic history, local businesses and nature into their clues. You’ll see everything Lewiston has to offer and learn about businesses you’ll want to shop at later and new restaurants to try.
  4. You Might Win – This is one of the most fun ways to compete for $500 cash for you and your friends.

The Beer

Water Street Landing

First and foremost, be sure to enjoy the Amazing Grace Scavenger Hunt after party. It’s always a blast and you’ll be able to share stories about how you found certain clues with other teams. If you’re looking for one more celebratory drink after your full day of Scavenger Hunting though, we recommend a drink at Water Street Landing’s Sidebar. The bar offers your favorite local and craft draft beers along with wine and mixed drinks. Pick your favorite poison and watch the sun go down as you toast to one of the more fun days you’ve had in years.
