Alyn Syms is a guitarist for all genres, a composer in all forms. His guitar collection ranges from classic acoustic to fiery red electric. His music portfolio spans funk to rock to classically-inspired new age. He has performed on national television as the lead guitarist for Rick James, fronted Buffalo’s premiere all-original rock group, ASG, and regularly plays acoustic performances at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Yet at the base of it all, Alyn Syms is a man who literally lives music with his every breath and thought.
Syms’ discography includes a 1979 EP (ASG) and a 1981 album (The Offering) recorded with his band, the Alyn Syms Group (ASG). The Lackawanna native then changed tracks and spent ten years writing a new style of rock music, which he recorded and released in 2004 as his first solo CD (The Lost Art). Syms followed his critically successful solo effort with a dramatic departure from rock to a classically inspired new age style of music. In 2013 he released, Black Forest Part One, with Part two planned for 2014. At the same time this multi-dimensional musician is returning to his musical roots with his latest group project, Alyn Syms & the Jam Band, showcasing his original blend of funk and rock that he defines as, “Ghetto Metal”.
