Arriba Tortilla Reopens Behind Taste

After months of will they won’t they, Arriba Tortilla in East Aurora has officially closed it’s doors on Main Street. Thankfully, it doesn’t end there. The final steps of moving into their new location behind Taste/Medici House are well under way. “We will open our doors at our new location, 40 Riley Street on Wednesday Aug 6th,” says the Arriba team. They will stick with the same hours throughout the transition to the new space, Sundays 11:30 to 8pm, Monday – Thursday 11:30 – 9pm and Friday & Saturday 11:30 – 10pm.

If you’ve been to Arriba before, you’re likely well aware of their impressive margarita selection, unlike most of the “Mexican” joints around here. Unless you’re headed to Cantina Loco downtown, it’s unlikely you’ll find such a wide variety in types of tequila as well as sour mixes and price. If they happen to have a housemade mix they day you visit, go for that. I haven’t had them all (one day), but I can say  I enjoy the Silver, Millionaire and Black Margaritas.

The allure of Main Street patio plus a quality margarita is what frequently brought me back to Arriba. Hopefully in losing the former they will continue the latter. From what I can tell, there is no outdoor seating in the initial floor plan at the new Arriba location. Correction: There is an uncovered back patio at the new location, complete with festive lighting. Similar decor will liven up the remolded space.

As far as food, I can’t speak on much. (I tend to stick to the margarita menu.) I can say that the ginormous nacho plate is quite delicious. The word around town is the veggie option is the best way to go. I also highly recommend the seafood burrito, shrimp or mahi mahi.
