The Covid-19 pandemic has affected businesses large and small all over Western New York.
One local business, local meal prep company Balanced Body Foods, realized there was a way they could help too. Balanced Body has been providing delicious, healthy meals to those in the community for years. When they realized they could use their unique business model to also provide these meals to those on the frontlines, they jumped at the chance.
“We wanted to help the local community through these uncertain and challenging times, specifically the medical workers on the frontline fighting the COVID virus”, owner Ashley Draped said.
Meanwhile another local business, media company Step Out Buffalo, had been searching for more ways to help as well. “When we saw what Balanced Body was doing, delivering these healthy pre-packaged meals to those protecting our community, we knew we wanted to get involved both by donating and raising awareness so others could help too”, co-founder Emily Morrow said.
Balanced Body has been able to deliver hundreds of meals to local hospitals thanks to generous donations made by local companies like Step Out Buffalo as well as individuals looking to help. “The meals allow medical staff access to fresh and nutritionally balanced meals to fuel them through their long days”, Draper added.
The donation made by Step Out Buffalo helped contribute 150 meals to those working the frontlines at Sisters of Charity Hospital.
Balanced Body is currently producing meals multiple days a week solely for this purpose. If any person, business, or organization would like to donate meals to WNY’s local hospitals or emergency workers, please visit balancedbodyfoods.com/
