When is Buffalo Beer Week 2016?

Friday September 23rd – October 2nd
It’s the end of September and so begins another Buffalo Beer Week celebration all across Western New York. While you rest up in preparation for a long week of brewing and boozing check out our list of top picks below to create your personalized schedule of events.
According to, the 10-day lineup “features events such as farm to table beer and wine dinners, tastings at your local pub and a huge ticketed special events and nearly everything in between.” This year’s theme is “Big Tent Buffalo”, “celebrating the inclusiveness that the craft beer scene in Buffalo and the greater community embraces and exemplifies.” Venues are encouraged to plan events that “highlight and promote inclusiveness across a broad range of potential boundaries that have historically divided us — culture, gender, ethnicity, religion, politics, etc. ”

Friday September 23

Meet the Brewer

Adam Mickiewicz Library, 612 Fillmore Ave., Buffalo

5 pm – 11:30 pm

Over 15 WNY breweries will be serving their latest offerings, including 12 Gates Brewing Company, 42 North Brewing Company, Four Mile Brewing, Gene McCarthy’s Brewery & Kitchen (Old First Ward Brewing) and Woodcock Brothers Brewing Company.


Schntizel & Company’s Oktoberfest Tent Party

Vito e Vino, 9210 Transit Road, Amherst

6 pm – 10 pm

The same beer tent, food, music and events as last year, but moved to Vito e Vino this year for better parking and more space. Tickets are $20.


Saturday September 24

Clams & Corn and Willard Brooks Dunkfest

Gene McCarthy’s (Old First Ward Brewing), 73 Hamburg St, Buffalo

12 pm – 2 pm

Twenty-four steamed clams, corn and a pint for $20. Dunk Buffalo Niagara Brewers Association president Willard Brooks will be above a tank of water for your dunking pleasure.


Ballpark Brewbash

Pettitbones Grille (Coca-cola Field), 275 Washington St., Buffalo

3 pm – 7 pm

More than 50 breweries from around the world will be in attendance at this, the crown jewel of Buffalo Beer Week. Tickets are $5 designated river/ $35 in advance / $45 day of event / $75 VIP.


Sunday September 25

German Oktoberfest

New York Beer Project, 6933 S Transit Road, Lockport

3pm – 7pm

A German Oktoberfest in the NYBP Biergarten is set to feature exclusive drinks, German food, games, and sing-a-longs. Live oom-pah music by The German American Musicians at 3pm.


Exclusive Cigar and Beer Pairing Event

Hamburg Brewing Company, 6553 Boston State Road, Hamburg

1 pm

Exclusive Arturo Fuente cigars from Smoker’s Haven will be paired with beer.


Tuesday September 27

42 North Beer Dinner

Black Iron Bystro, 3648 South Park, Blasdell

5 pm – 9 pm

A $60 ticket includes 4 courses paired with beers from 42 North.


New Orleans Style Funeral

Hot Mama’s Canteen, 12 Military Ave, Buffalo

6 pm

The annual NOLA-style Second Line funeral procession for CBW’s Rutherford B. Haze is not to be missed. The procession will form at 6pm on the corner of Grant St. and Amherst St. and will finish at Hot Mama’s with pints of the late beer and music from the Fred Town Stompers.


Wednesday September 28

Beer and Cheese in Perfect Harmony

Flying Bison Brewing Company, 840 Seneca St, Buffalo

6 pm – 9 pm

This event features selections from Buffalo Cheese Traders and Premier Gourmet’s cheese department with a focus on both imported old world cheese styles and their new world counterparts. Flying Bison will be presenting several beers to pair, including Funky Farmhand NYS Saison and ‘One Foot Bock’ Apple-Brandy Barrel-aged Maibock). The head of Premier’s beer department will also be selecting some beers. Food provided by SOLE of Buffalo and Mazurek’s Bakery. A $30 ticket includes 8 different pairings and some sides. TrioPAYAZZO will be performing it’s blend of European & American jazz.

Third Annual “Tapping of the Pumpkin”

Pearl Street Grill & Brewery, 76 Pearl Street, Buffalo

Enjoy a pumpkin beer directly from the pumpkin, pumpkin beer cocktails and $4 featured pints.


$1 Oyster Night!

Oshun Oyster Bar, 5 E. Huron St, Buffalo

Beer Week or not, you can’t pass up this deal oysterheads! The special is at the bar only and $4 drafts will also be featured.

Beer Dinner

Rusty Nickel Brewing Company, 4350 Seneca Street, West Seneca

6 pm

$55 gets you five beers and five paired plates. Buying tickets in advance is suggested.


Saturday October 1

Zwanze Day 2016

Thin Man Brewery, 492 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo

Each year, the Brasserie Cantillon brewery in Brussels, Belgium, releases a rare lambic-style of beer with fruit notes to only 60 locations in 18 countries and Thin Man is the only place to get Zwanze 2016 on this side of the state. While the tickets for this year’s Zwanze beer have sold out, Thin Man have 5 other kegs of Cantillon on tap as well as a bunch of other specialty brews.


Hamburg Brewing 3rd Anniversary Party

Hamburg Brewing Company, 6553 Boston State Road, Hamburg

The Southtowns brewing company is celebrating its third anniversary with a free event that includes music by Strictly Hip and others, a clam and oyster bar and exclusive beers brewed specifically for the party.


RBC Fallfest Original Music Showcase

Resurgence Brewing Company, 1250 Niagara Street, Buffalo

2 pm – 10 pm

Help Resurgence celebrate local original music and drink beer at the same time? It a win-win. The event also features food trucks and is all-ages.

Black Rock Riverside Oktoberfest

Artisan Kitchen and Bath, 200 Amherst St, Buffalo

3 pm

The Blackrock and Riverside Oktoberfest starts with omm-pah music by the Schnickelfritzers at 3 pm. There will be a keg tapping party at 4 pm and starting at 5pm buses will be available to transport those who buy a $10 wristband to all participating venues, which includes Artisan Kitchen and Bath, Barry’s Grill, Casey’s Tavern, Hot Mama’s Canteen, The Dapper Goose, Rohall’s Corner and Nye Park Tavern. The wristband also covers the cost of admission to all festival venues.

5 pm – 11 pm

An evening of live music, great food, lawn games, and beer, including a limited release Dunkelweizen brewed for the event. Live music and other details to be announced.


Sunday October 2

OFEST! Harvest March

Gene McCarthy’s (Old First Ward Brewing), 73 Hamburg St, Buffalo

11:30 am – 5 pm

This second annual event kicks off with a parade through the Old First Ward with event attendees wearing their best Oktoberfest duds. After the parade will be a ceremonial blessing and tapping of the cask of OFW’s Ofest! Oktoberfest Lager. The event will also feature Prizes for best female and best male dressed, $12 German plates (Sausages, German potato salad and kraut)and a free pint with food purchase.


Meatball Street Brawl

Osteria 166, 166 Franklin St, Buffalo

11 am

This event will bring together meatballs from Italian restaurants across Western New York, including those from Osteria 166, Lombardo’s, Sinatra’s, Mulberry, Frankie Primos +39, Trattoria Aroma Williamsville, Chef’s, Bada Bing, Snooty Fox, Providence Social and Tappo. Craft beer tastings and a bocce tournament. Tickets are $10 advance, $15 day of the event.
