Betty Crockski Southside Saturdays

First there was the news of the Black Market Food Truck’s Michael Dimmer and Christian Willmott expanding their culinary reach to include tables, chairs, a bar and a storefront with Marble + Rye. Then rumors were confirmed that LLoyd Taco Trucks’ Pete Cimino and Chris Dorsaneo would jump the sidewalk and take on Hertel with their first brick and mortar.

This is a little different from all that, since Betty Crockski isn’t opening a restaurant per seeeeee. But what is the same is that you’ll get the chance to experience one of the very best Buffalo food truck operations while sitting in a chair, at a table, under a roof. Not only that, but you’ll be tasting from a newly crafted, experimental menu by co-owners Dana Szczepaniak and Kate Hey of Betty Crockski, Buffalo’s first and only Polish food truck – a description that doesn’t do much in the way of describing the sophisticated, amped up Polish fare Betty serves.

Introducing Southside Saturdays, your chance to meet Betty for happy hour at the Southside Social & Athletic Club in South Buffalo. Every Saturday evening in February (2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28), Betty Crockski will be inside serving a rotating menu of brand new “Polish pub food” they’ve been working on for the past few months. We’re pretty sure it’s going to be a hit.

Betty Crockski

Why host a pop-up in Southside? There are plenty of reasons. According to Betty’s blog, they’re “very fond of the Southside Club.” Betty writes, “Since Betty Crockski opened, the members have been very good to us, helping with everything from truck repairs to moral support. The Club itself might look like any old hole-in-the-wall at first glance. The booze & beer selections are small, shots come in plastic thimbles, and at second glance you might think you’re in a friend’s basement rather than a bar at all. There is more to the Club than meets the eye, though, and we want to share it.”

It sure sounds like it’s going to be a grand old time. With only four chances to check it out, the first being in only a few short days, you’d better clear your schedule or notify your date of the change in plans. BETTY + BAR = BADASS.

Side note: Betty Crockski is now selling Betty to-go at the Winter Market at Horsefeathers on Saturday morning. For more info on Southside Saturdays, check out Betty’s blog.
