As you must have already heard, Lloyd Taco Trucks competed on CNBC’s reality series, “Restaurant Startup” last night (Tuesday) for a chance to create a pop-up restaurant and show hosts Tim Love and Joe Bastianich what they got. Now friends, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Lloyd has it all. After watching last night’s episode where the Lloydian duo killed it, I have to say that Love and Bastianich seem to agree.
The short of it: Peter Cimino and Chris Dorsaneo, owners of Lloyd Taco Trucks, made a deal with Bastianich and Love, receiving $250,000 in exchange for 25% of their company, trucks included. They will use the money to open a restaurant in WNY. Confirmed rumor has it, they are opening their first brick-and-mortar on Hertel Ave. According to the television screen at the very end of the Restaurant Startup episode, they are aiming for an April 1st opening.
We’d like to take this moment to extend our congratulations to the Lloyd team! Without you, I’d go hungry every Friday night. (Either that or just much less satisfied.)
Speculation is (at SOB anyway) that Lloyd (who we suspect was once a Sherpa who walked all the way here from the Himalayas) plans to use Hertel Ave as jumping off point to national taco dominance and/or general world domination. Stay tuned.
