As you may have heard (thanks to our friends Buffalo.com, Buffalo Rising, Mix 96, The Bloody Queen City, and all those hashtaggers out there #buffalobloodymaryfest), the first annual Buffalo Bloody Mary Fest was pretty great/the best event in the history of ever.
10 participating Bloody-crafters – Aroma on Bryant, Ballyhoo, Bar Bill, Buffalo Proper, Coles, Craving, Hydraulic Hearth, Oshun, Providence Social, and The Lodge – brought their A-game as they competed for the gold medal (ok it was an engraved plaque but still), serving up their unique Bloody concoctions all lovingly made with the exclusive vodka of the Buffalo Bloody Mary Fest, Tommyrotter Vodka.
There was a plethora of brunch-themed treats to be had from start to finish, and attendees were greeted at the door with Mazra Natural Snack necklaces (nutritious ~and~ delicious). Other local favorites like Anderson’s, Barrel + Brine, Breadhive, Cream and Sugar Ice Cream Cafe, KegWorks, and Park Edge Sweet Shoppe kept everyone’s bellies full all afternoon, plus as an added bonus Krista’s Caribbean Kitchen introduced us all to MoBay Jamaican style Bloodies and now our lives will never be the same.
In between sips and bites there were plenty of things to entertain attendees, including a photo booth station (check out aaaaaall of the photos here), Yelp interactive game booth, oohing and aahing over the gorgeous Shea’s Performing Arts Center interior, dancing around to the sweet sounds of DJ Lulu, and being wildly entertained by our lovely emcees from Rise Collaborative.
Of course we couldn’t have pulled everything off without the gracious support of our sponsors, Arctic Glacier Premium Ice, Buffalo Bites Food Tours, Buffalo Brunch, Elle Air, JH Dodman, Krista’s Caribbean Kitchen, Mercedes Benz of Buffalo, and Yelp. These fine ladies and gentlemen deserve super recognition for believing in this event and helping make it a reality. Sponsors, we cannot thank you enough!! Love you, mean it.
After trying each of the ten Bloodies attendees and our expert group of judges, Chef Brad Rowell of The Grange Community Kitchen, Lizz Schumer of Buffalo Eats, and Adrianne Salmon of @BuffaloBrunch, cast their votes for Buffalo’s Best Bloody Mary, Best Garnished Bloody Mary, and Fan Favorite Bloody Mary. Who took home the gold?? Drum rolllll please:
- Ballyhoo (25 points)
- Bar Bill (22 points)
- Buffalo Proper & Hydraulic Hearth (tied at 21 points)
- Cole’s (23 points)
- Bar Bill (22 points)
- Ballyhoo, Hydraulic Hearth, & Providence Social (tied at 19 points)
- Ballyhoo (103 votes)
- Oshun (99 votes)
- Aroma on Bryant (58 votes)
And just like that the 2016 Buffalo Bloody Mary Fest was over. See you next year!
