Getting healthy, nailing that promotion, sorting our your finances – they’re all respectable resolutions. But frankly, they’re boring af, which is why we here at Step Out Buffalo are challenging you to really step out of your comfort zone in 2017 with the Buffalo Bucket List Challenge. We know it can be difficult to constantly come up with new and exciting ways to enjoy your time here on planet earth, and more specifically Western New York, so we’re doing the work for you. Every Wednesday this year we’ll publish a new Buffalo Bucket List Challenge post with a fun / interesting / exciting / unique “task” to try.
Week 18: Self Defense Classes
SPAR Self Defense

Hours: Monday and Wednesday 9am-12pm and 5pm-9pm, Tuesday and Thursday 6am-12pm and 5pm-9pm, Friday 8:30am-12pm, and Saturday 8:30am-11am. The self-defense classes are generally 45 minutes in length and you can view the specific class schedule here: spardefense.com/schedule.
Price: The 8-week unlimited class program is $99 or you can pay $10 to try one class.
Details: IMO it’s important to have some tricks up your sleeve just in case you ever find yourself in a sticky situation. SPAR provides a women’s self-defense program that addresses realistic situations where trouble can occur like the atm, the bar, and elevator, and more. Their classes are available to ladies ages 12 and up. This program is a great way to work out while gaining the skills you need to protect yourself in dangerous situations.
Where to Eat: The Shake Bar at SPAR! Keep the health kick going and discuss what you learned in class over some shakes at their convenient shake bar. Choose from a selection of fruit smoothies, protein shakes, and bubble teas and relax for a bit after class.
