Getting healthy, nailing that promotion, sorting our your finances – they’re all respectable resolutions. But frankly, they’re boring af, which is why we here at Step Out Buffalo are challenging you to really step out of your comfort zone with the Buffalo Bucket List Challenge. We know it can be difficult to constantly come up with new and exciting ways to enjoy your time here on planet earth, and more specifically Western New York, so we’re doing the work for you. Every Wednesday this year we’ll publish a new Buffalo Bucket List Challenge post with a fun / interesting / exciting / unique “task” to try.
Week 21: A stay at Buffalo’s most anticipated hotel, Hotel Henry
Hotel Henry Urban Resort Conference Center
444 Forest Ave in Buffalo
Price: Rooms vary in price, but a basic rooms is usually around $180-$200
Details: Unless you live under a rock, you’ve definitely heard of the highly anticipated Hotel Henry that opened in May 2017. This iconic building was built in the 1800s and stood as the Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane for many years. After closing, the building remained empty until it was decided that the building would be brought back to life as a hotel in the heart of the Elmwood Village. I think it’s safe to say that locals were beyond excited about the rebirth of the Richardson Olmsted Complex. The building is stunning, with so much space, and this is the perfect way to attract visitors to new areas in WNY other than Niagara Falls. Plan a stay and experience the hotel for yourself! The rooms are stunning and I’ve heard nothing but great things about the hotel’s
restaurant, 100 Acres.
Where to Eat: Hotel Henry has a beautiful North Patio overlooking the grounds. Their restaurant, 100 Acres, is one of the best in town. The menu changes seasonally, but while you’re there if the 100 Acres Cheeseburger (made with onion jam, whipped bison dip (!!!) and chips) is on the menu – GET IT. You know you’re at a Buffalo restaurant when you get Bison Dip with your meal. Also – grab an order of the deviled eggs with crispy green olives and a few other plates to share, and you’ll be all set!
