Getting healthy, nailing that promotion, sorting our your finances – they’re all respectable resolutions. But frankly, they’re boring af, which is why we here at Step Out Buffalo are challenging you to really step out of your comfort zone in 2017 with the Buffalo Bucket List Challenge. We know it can be difficult to constantly come up with new and exciting ways to enjoy your time here on planet earth, and more specifically Western New York, so we’re doing the work for you. Every Wednesday this year we’ll publish a new Buffalo Bucket List Challenge post with a fun / interesting / exciting / unique “task” to try.
Week 23: Make like Tom Petty and free fall
3316 Beebe Rd in Newfane
Hours: Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm
Price: For a tandem jumper it’s $250. To add tandem photos it’s $90 plus tax and the photos plus the video is $115 dollars plus tax.
Details: When I try to explain to people why they need to try this at least once, I get a quick “absolutely not” respond majority of the time. Just try it people! It’s the most amazing, surreal experience you’ll have. You’re falling at about 120-130 mph and the feeling you get when you’re soaring through the sky from 14,000 feet with Tom Petty singing in your head is as insane as it sounds. You don’t get that “elevator” feeling in your stomach and believe it or not, I didn’t feel sick at all. The experience just takes your breath away! You have an instructor strapped to you for extra safety and guidance. Frontier Skydivers’ season runs from the first weekend of May and continues until the last weekend in October, so start building your courage now! Make sure you call to schedule your jump ahead of time.

Where To Eat: I know this isn’t necessarily around the corner, but after our jump my group made the decision to stop at Grover’s Bar & Grill. There’s nothing quite like a giant, juicy burger from Grovers to calm your nerves…and maybe a beer. Just remember, Grovers is cash only!
