Irish or not, Buffalo Irish Festival is a must-attend event. This ethnic heritage festival is the ultimate celebration of Irish culture and you can expect three days of traditional Irish food, drink, music, and dancing. This year marks the 38th annual festival held on Buffalo’s beautiful Outer Harbor.

The event officially kicks off with a parade of Ireland’s 32 counties on Friday, 8/23 at 5 p.m. Our recommendation? Come early to score free admission. But really, if you arrive between 4:00 and 5:30 on Friday you enter for free.

Come ready to sing and dance! There will be two stages of continuous Irish entertainment. If you appreciate traditional Irish music and dancing, this fest is for you.

The Young Dubliners are headlining the festival this year. These Celtic rockers are known for blending traditional Irish tunes with modern rock. The lineup includes performers from the U.S. and Canada as well as acts traveling all the way from Ireland. There’s a full list of talented artists on the schedule, including Seamus Kennedy, Eileen Ivers Band, The Drowsy Lads, Bohola, Crikwater, and Bridgid’s Cross. There will be step and set-dancing performances, too.

Irish literature fans, you’ll appreciate this. There will be book signings and readings with known authors, including Tim Shannon, Roseanne Higgns, Sinead Tyrone, Michael McCarthy, and Greg McVicker.

The vendor tent is always full of giftable goods, exclusively Irish ones. You’ll find everything from Celtic jewelry to Irish apparel to handmade ceramics and more. There’s even a place with airbrushed Celtic tattoos alongside shopping from over 25 shops and exhibitors!

Every year the Buffalo Irish Festival presents one lucky winner with two round-trip flights from Buffalo to Ireland. You need to be in it to win it aka get a raffle ticket and cross your fingers. The proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Buffalo Irish Center. So even if you don’t win this time around, you’re supporting a cheers-worthy cause.
