Want to get out of the house? Virtual “events” not really cutting it for you in the Q? Buffalo Iron Works and The Transit Drive-In are here with good news – live concerts are BACK – social distance-style.
Buffalo Iron Works music venue and The Transit Drive-In in Lockport are teaming up to bring the WNY community a summer concert series that will kick off on June 19 & 20 with a performance by Aqueous, a groove rock band native to Buffalo. These socially distanced concerts will be a unique experience not to be missed, performed in a drive-in movie style.
This newly imagined concert experienced is called “Live at the Drive”, a series that plans for two concerts a week through August and future concerts will be announced in the weeks to come. The aim is to do a 16-show series. On Thursday nights Live at the Drive will offer a concert and movie combo night, while Saturdays will feature afternoon concerts only.
The timing of the shows will be unique in that bands will play during a 2pm – 5pm window in order to limit the length of the show for safety and bathroom use as well as to give time to tear down our production and turn things back over for nightly movies.
For the upcoming June 19 & 20 shows gates will open at 1pm both days with the shows starting at 2pm. GA tickets are $40 per person and VIP are $80 per person, which includes a ticket to the show, a vehicle spot in the front two rows, and a limited edition poster. All ticketing will be through internet pre-sale only, and tickets need to be purchased for all occupants of each vehicle under one transaction. A minimum of two people per vehicle must be purchased, with a maximum set at six. Social distancing guidelines and Covid-19 safety will be taken very seriously and can be found by following this link.
“We’re thrilled to bring drive-in concerts to the WNY music community. People are itching for live music and while getting together in a room or even outdoors won’t be a safe option for the foreseeable future, we are hopeful that this is our most desirable option for those looking to see a live show,” says Josh Holtzman, partner of Buffalo Iron Works and Co-Founder of “Live at the Drive.” The series will exclusively feature local and regional bands, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit local charities.
Tickets to “Live at the Drive” can be purchased through the Transit Drive-In website. See below for the full schedule.
