Western New York, meet your newest escape room – Escape Room Adventures in North Tonawanda right across the street from Riviera Theater!
With so many escape rooms popping up lately, it’s worth mentioning right off the bat that the “if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen ‘em all” mentality doesn’t apply here. The masterminds behind this locally owned and operated escape room are working hard to break the mold you may have seen at other escape rooms in more ways than one.
What’s makes Escape Room Adventures different?
The puzzles, that’s what. Let’s face it, the more escape rooms that open around town, the higher the likelihood of encountering duplicate themes. When it comes down to it, a lot of escape rooms actually get their puzzles from outside sources, which only increases the chances that you’ll get stuck (literally) doing something all too familiar.
Escape Room Adventures aims to go above and beyond the usual by creating original escape room themes and puzzles from scratch. To start out, the first room available for booking is “108 Ocean Ave” featuring a team of up and coming ghost hunters (that’s you!) who get stuck inside a house where many a murder have occurred.
The second, available on October 20th just in time for the Grand Opening is called “Escape From Wonderland” in which you’re a wanderer who has stumbled into Wonderland. Alice and the other inhabitants are nowhere to be found, but they left clues for you to follow. Naturally the Queen of Hearts will be breathing murderous threats down your neck while you make your way through a whimsical room full of riddles, tea, puzzles, games, and a bit of danger.
Escape Room Adventures has plans to switch up the themes every few months. While most escape room businesses have one or two puzzles available at any given time, these guys will have three running, with a fourth in transition.
While the themes and puzzles themselves sound super unique and intriguing, the best part is that Escape Room Adventures doesn’t stop there. Before or after your escape room experience pencil in some time for dinner and/or drinks at Canal Club 62 right downstairs. I don’t know about you, but I never miss an opportunity to discuss an escape room challenge at length. An hour of shenanigans is hardly enough – this way you can extend the fun into a full night out.
Did we mention walk-ins are welcome? Something that isn’t usually offered at escape rooms. If you’re in a pinch and need something fun to do, you know where to go. Plus, the cost per person decreases at the number in your party increases. So if there are 4 of you it will cost $25 a person (AKA the going rate at most escape rooms no matter how many people in your group). A group of five is $120 ($24 per person), a group of six is $140 ($23 per person), and so on and so forth until you hit your max number of people per room which is 8.
Escape Room Adventures is open now for bookings on weekends until their grand opening on October 20th. Use promo code “SNEAK20” during sneak peek hours for $20 off your bill.
Pro-tip: Dressing up to fit the theme will get you a discount!
