If you’re like us, you’ve been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the new crop of restaurant on Main Street Downtown to take form and start serving. With most of the street spiffed up and ready to rock, D’Avolio Kitchen on Main finally opened their doors.

This will be the second “kitchen” restaurant location for D’Avolio (the first is in Williamsville) and the eighth overall with other retail- only locations in Lewiston, Elmwood Village, East Amherst, Ellicottville, Clarence and Niagara Falls.

What started out as an olive oil and vinegar shop, which they are still very much involved in today, has expanded into a bistro style restaurant featuring gourmet sandwiches made with freshly baked bread, and salads and pizzas served with the best of the best oils and vinegars. We just love it when people showcase their talents in a creative way.

At D’Avolio Kitchen on Main Street expect a lively lunch crowd in a casual atmosphere. The menu consists of make-your-own sandwiches ($11.95) which come with a cup of soup or side salad. They have plenty of fixin’s to make basically any kind of sandwich you can imagine on either Homemade Focaccia or Homemade Ciabatta.

The same U-pick setup goes for Pizza, Antipasto and Salads (all $11.95). As for beverages, they aren’t leaving anyone out in the cold. Just as any good weekday lunch spot does in our opinion, they offer an approachable, to-the-point wine list ($7 glass/$17 bottle) and a few beers including Peroni. I supposed Davolio picked that one out.

Sounds like downtown has been blessed by the lunch gods. Mangia!
