XGEN Elite Bringing Professional Basketball Back to WNY!
Buffalo, NY – XGEN Elite, WNY’s premier sports tournament and events organization, is proud to announce that they are bringing professional basketball back to the WNY area. XGEN has purchased the rights to bring an American Basketball Association (ABA) team to Buffalo, with an inaugural season slated for this November 2022. The yet-to-be-named team will play as a member of the ABA’s Northeast Region.
The ABA is a men’s professional basketball league initially formed in partnership with the NBA. It is America’s largest pro league with over 180 teams in the US and now with an ABA Mexico league. ABA teams provide excellent opportunities for players seeking to advance their professional careers. Notable ABA players of the past include Rick Barry, Moses Malone, Dr J (Julius Irving), George Gervin and many others. The ABA season consists of 20 games and runs from November through April (including playoffs).
“We are very excited to explore all of the possibilities having our own ABA organization brings” says Darren Fenn, one of the owners of XGEN Elite. “This will be great family entertainment in addition to providing exposure for highly skilled players looking to work towards the G-League or even the NBA.”
XGEN is looking for community involvement in helping them name the team. A contest has been set up at www.BuffaloABA.com and if anyone suggests a name that is actually used, they have the chance to receive 2 season tickets for the inaugural season.
