Daniel’s Restaurant Back in Business

Daniel’s Restaurant in Hamburg is back with a new cast, same crew. Daniel’s Restaurant in Hamburg closed earlier this fall when long time owner and chef Daniel Johengen retired after 23 years.

The new ownership is a group of four local business people: Annette Winder of Allstate Insurance of Hamburg; Todd Winder (husband) – Interstate Battery of Greater Buffalo (Hamburg & Kenmore); Henry Matuszewski, former owner/operator of Williamsville’s Daffodils Restaurant from 1990-2004; Scott Donhauser, longtime chef most recently at Butterwoods Sweet & Savory and once upon a time at Daffodils.

“We are in the process of some remodeling of the restaurant that includes paint, carpet and furniture” stated Annette. Daniels will reopen for limited reservations Friday, Dec. 6th.  “Our plan is to offer some of the favorites from Daniel’s menu as well as some items Scott has perfected at Daffodils and Butterwoods. We are also very excited that Daniel’s excellent wait staff will be returning.”

Chef Donhauser formally trained at the Florida Culinary Institute in Tampa. He is a proponent of the “farm to table” movement and plans to change the menu regularly to reflect the freshest ingredients possible.
