While there are more than a few fantastic u-pick flower farms in WNY, sunflower fields are a pretty rare find. By now you probably know about Sunflowers of Sanborn, the sunflower field in Niagara County that made it’s name a few years back when a family happened to plant sunflowers in a field. Suddenly, everyone in WNY made it their priority to take a picture in the field.
Well, big news Buffalo! Did you know there are actually two other WNY sunflower fields, and the one in Clarence at Kelkenberg Farm offers much more than just sunflower stalking.

The family operated farm not only offers u-pick sunflowers during peak season (August), but it’s open for educational tours, family visits, large events, and group parties for all ages year round. Kelkenberg Farm is actually a real livestock and horse farm that has been welcoming farm visitors since 1980.

They are open during every season, including for pumpkin picking in the fall, sleigh rides in the winter, baby animals in the spring, Mother’s Day and Sunflower Field Day in the summer, along with summer picnics.
A trip to the farm includes seeing and touching all of the animals, pony rides for children, a hayride for the family to the sunflower patch, and other interactive activities on the farm. They also offer snacks and refreshments in their market and reservations are rain or shine.
