It’s official. Buffalo has finally caught up to the dry bar trend that’s swept over the country as of this fall. Lauren Quimby and Edie Pliszka opened Buffalo’s first blow dry bar, Elle air, this October in Clarence.

“We brought the new concept to our area that have been popping up in all other cities. We focus strictly on Blowouts and styling hair, no cuts and no colors. It starts with a wash and scalp massage and then we add the round brushes and hot tools,” Lauren explained.

Guests are offered complimentary champagne or a beverage of their choice, as is customary in many dry bars around the country. “It is a perfect place for parties(girls nights, bachelorettes, weddings, birthdays) or just a good pick me up,” Lauren said.

“Blowouts are $36 but we run a lot of specials for $6 off your first blowout etc. We also offer airbrush makeup, facial waxing, upstyles and bridal packages.”

Elle air leaves the cuts and color to the traditional salons and focuses on blowouts, complete with a menu of different styles to choose from. Depending on the length and texture of your hair, a blowout usually takes around 30-45 minutes, and can last for days with little maintenance. Which, needless to say, is why dry bars are the s!$*.

Blow Out Menu:

  • Big & Bouncy (our signature blowout)
  • Straight & Sleek
  • Soft Waves
  • Beachy & Messy
  • Loose Curls
  • Short & Sweet

This past Friday Elle air hosted part one of a “bar crawl” event in collaboration with The Clothes Bar (4161 Transit Rd, Williamsville) and Pure Barre (7660 Transit Rd, Buffalo). The event will continue tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 12th from 5-7pm at The Clothes Bar and Friday, Dec. 19th. from 6-8pm at Pure Barre. The event includes demos, items for purchase, cocktails and snacks. If you attend any of the 3 parties you receive a goody bag with deals for a $20 Blowout, 40% off clothing item, and a FREE Barre Class. Plus, you’re able to pick up a Bar Tab Card, to be used at all three stores by Dec. 19th to be entered for a chance to win a grand prize announced the 19th! (4 Free Blowouts, One Month of Barre Classes, and $150 towards a free outfit) Elle Air plans to continue adding events to their calendar this winter and spring, so be on the look out for more.
