More goodies are coming to the Elmwood Village as villagers welcome one of the oldest and largest nonprofit fair trade organizations in the world, Ten Thousand Villages.
Moving into the former Urban Leisure and Luxury location at 736 Elmwood Ave from Williamsville, Ten Thousand Villages will be kicking off its grand opening weekend with a party of course, because let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good party?
From Friday, Oct. 13 to Sunday, Oct. 15, shoppers are welcome to peruse the eclectic goodies during extended hours (10am – 8pm) all the while enjoying live music, international food, and kids activities. Run, don’t walk because the first 50 customers get a swag bag full of goodies, because free stuff is the best stuff (duh). Like we said, run.
Previously located on Main Street in Williamsville, Ten Thousand Villages supports over 130 international artisans in 38 different countries. This store is supported and run mainly by volunteers and offers beautiful, unique handmade items from all over the world including jewelry, scarves, personal care products, home goods, coffee, tea, chocolate and seasonal ornaments and nativities. This new location even plans on expanding their line to carrying fair trade clothing.
“Ten Thousand Villages complements the other local shops in the Elmwood Village and we can’t wait for a larger audience to experience our product and mission,” says Emma Gietzen-Kane, Store Manager/Executive Director. “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to relocate to a prime location on Elmwood!”
If you’d like to become a Ten Thousand Villages volunteer, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call the store 716-810-9333.
