New Year, New You. Maybe you didn’t see a lot of live music in 2019. That needs to change. Or maybe you didn’t see many small club shows last year. This is the year to get back into the clubs and up your music scene.

Besides the typical changes that come after the holidays, your New Year’s resolutions should include the best music and where to find it. As always, Step Out Buffalo is here for your live music needs. Get started on the right foot with these 7 essential concerts listed below.

(Some of these shows may be sold out, but obviously you can still find tickets on StubHub, Craigslist, Facebook, under the tree, in your stocking, under the New Year’s Eve glitter, etc. C’mon guys, don’t @ us.)

1) The Glorious Sons (SOLD OUT)

DATE:  Jan 17th

LOCATION: Town Ballroom

COST: $25 – 99 (original pricing)

With a charismatic lead singer and skyscraping choruses, The Glorious Sons have hit on a winning formula. Their show is clearly too big for Town Ballroom, so work those connections and see if you can score a ticket.

2) 98 Degrees

DATE: Jan 17th

LOCATION: Fallsview Casino

COST: $50.85 – 73.45

Just a little bit cooler than everyone else, 98 Degrees are bringing 90s nostalgia to the Fallsview Casino. Book tickets to this one and see if you can win back those fees at the roulette table.

3) G. Love and Special Sauce

DATE: Jan 21st

COST: $35

Speaking of 90s nostalgia, G. Love and Special Sauce built a massive cult Gen X following that persists to this day. The Tralf is the perfect place to see why G. Love’s booty shaking grooves have had such staying power.

4) Atmosphere

DATE: Jan 24th

LOCATION: Town Ballroom

COST: $26

Underground rap as good as Atmosphere doesn’t come through that often. If you like chill beats and smart lyrics more than club bangerz, you need to jump on this one.

5) Trampled by Turtles

DATE: Jan 28th

COST: $25

Do you like foot stompin’, beer swillin’, finger pickin’ rave ups? Folk-pop act Trampled by Turtles hits all those notes and more.

6) Too Many Zooz

DATE: Jan 30th

LOCATION: Buffalo Iron Works

COST: $17

If you keep seeing and hearing about a jazz resurgence but don’t know what all the fuss is about, can we kindly direct you to Too Many Zooz? Popularized by a subway performance gone viral, Too Many Zooz brings horns-and-drums jazz sounds that make you move your feet, instead of stroking your chin. Dig it.

DATE: Jan 31st

LOCATION: Buffalo Iron Works

COST: $15

Buffalo Iron Works has become a hotbed of jam band activity and this month’s highlight is Tauk, a four-piece band out of Long Island. With six studio albums and four live albums to their name, Tauk have plenty of material to keep you on the dance floor.
