I Never Saw Another Butterfly
The play follows the story of Jewish children coping with the trauma of the Holocaust through the arts, thanks to a wonderful teacher. It’s based on a true story- the children’s artwork and poems of the ghetto of Terezin were preserved and are referenced in the show. Our mission is to tell their story because they wanted the world to remember them and, though the topic is serious, the message of hope and the resiliency of the human spirit is an important one to share.
The butterflies on the poster represent the children in our cast. They were drawn by the kids, referencing butterflies native to Czechoslovakia. The scraps of paper signify their use of any material available on which they made their art or wrote their poems. Collage was a method used by the children there, as well. The poster is our homage to the work created by the children of Terezin.
