The Landscape Tour of Graycliff is a 90-minute experience which focuses on the history and restoration journey of our historic gardens and grounds, and includes the first floor of the main house. The tour covers the details of Ellen Biddle Shipman’s involvement in the design for the landscape that was initially outlined by Frank Lloyd Wright and is led by a docent who has specialized knowledge related to the plant life on the property.
Graycliff has gone mask-optional for all tours and events. However, please note that we welcome guests from across the country and world. Tours and events take place both inside and out, and in close proximity to other guests. Mask use is encouraged.
Only guests 5 and up will be admitted at this time. Much of the tour will take place outside, rain or shine, please dress appropriately for the weather. Students may be asked to provide a valid student ID to receive the student rate.
After a two-year wait, the restoration of our lakeside lawn (including an area which Wright described as an “esplanade”) begins in early April and is scheduled to extend through early summer. Pardon our dust as we work to improve our lakeside lawn, fence, and restore a Wright-designed stone bench for future generations. With this exciting restoration, some areas may be temporarily off-limits to tours for safety reasons, and a construction presence may affect your experience.
