Prohibition was a busy time for Buffalo’s waterfront. With legal alcohol available just across the Niagara River in Canada, a short boat trip across the border could bring alcohol into Buffalo. In the way of that short trip were an increasing number of patrol boats on the lookout for smugglers. Join us for a cruise aboard the Miss Buffalo II and listen to stories of rum running and smuggling and enjoy the scenic views of Buffalo’s waterfront.

This tour is two hours in length. Meet at the Miss Buffalo II dock at Erie Basin Marina at 329 Erie Street, Buffalo NY 14202. Please arrive 20 minutes before the tour start time – the Miss Buffalo II will leave the dock promptly at the start time. Late arrivals will miss the boat! 

Prohibition Cruise Prices: 

  • General Admission: $29
  • Explorer Pass Members: $24

Tour Procedures & Policies: 

  • Reservations are required for all tours, including for Explorer Pass members. Space is limited aboard the Miss Buffalo II. Walk-ups without reservations cannot be accommodated.
    • Reservations close two hours before the tour’s scheduled start time (for example, reservations close at 8am for a 10am tour).
    • Reservations can be made online; please email explore@explorebuffalo.org or call (716) 245-3032 if you need assistance.
    • The Explore Buffalo docent for your tour will have a list of tour reservations for their tour; you do not need to print or bring any tour confirmation.
  • Accessibility: Please contact us at explore@explorebuffalo.org or (716) 245-3032 if you plan to attend this tour and will require accommodations or if you have questions about accessibility.
  • If you feel ill or suspect you may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please do not attend any Explore Buffalo tours. We will be happy to refund your reservation or welcome you to join us at a later date.
  • Explore Buffalo will contact you if this tour is cancelled due to weather. In general, the Miss Buffalo II sails rain or shine.
  • All food and beverages must be obtained through Buffalo Harbor Cruises.
