It is believed that Frank Lloyd Wright, whose deep love for the natural world inspired so much of his architectural approach, intentionally designed the corner window in the “view room” of the main house at Graycliff to perfectly frame the setting sun around the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice. This special time, that heralds the change of seasons, and the gradual shortening of days, has been celebrated by many cultures all throughout time.
This is the second annual Solstice Sound Bath at Graycliff and your opportunity to experience the pure magic of this moment, which only happens once a year, on our historic lakeside property.
These are intense times on the planet, and many people are tired and weary, their nervous systems in need of deep rest and tending. Sound has a tremendous effect on the central nervous system, helping it to unwind and facilitating healing. Let the acoustics of the crystal bowls, drums, chimes, and vocals, along with the gorgeous backdrop of our historic site, help you ground on the longest day of the year.
Led by Jennifer Fenner of 716 Zen Vibes and Megan Callahan, Founder of Yoga Parkside, this special 90-minute workshop will feature a full sound bath, with some gentle stretching and a deep restorative meditation.
The sound bath will begin promptly at 7pm, but participants are welcome to arrive at 6:30pm, linger in the historic gardens and grounds and get settled. The sound bath experience will involve only the first floor of our Frank Lloyd Wright-designed main house.
Please bring a mat, blanket, pillow, and anything else you need to be comfortable for the duration of the sound bath and practice. If you have an eye mask, consider bringing that as well. This is a trauma informed and inclusive environment.
