Graycliff has big plans to celebrate the Summer Solstice this June with special programming June 21 through 24 highlighting Frank Lloyd Wright’s unique design and how it interacts with the setting sun.
It is believed that Wright, whose deep love for the natural world inspired so much of his architectural approach, intentionally designed the corner window in the “view room” of the main house at Graycliff to perfectly frame the setting sun around the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice. Graycliff is celebrating this special time with several events planned to allow visitors to experience this unique time, which only happens once a season. The planned events include:
● Wednesday, June 21, 6:30pm, Solstice Sound Bath: Graycliff’s second annual sound bath inside the living room of the main house. Tickets are $45/person (Graycliff Members save $10).
● Thursday, June 22, 5:30pm, Solstice Gentle Yoga: A 60-min yoga experience inside Graycliff’s historic main house, all levels welcome. Tickets are $25/person (Graycliff Members save $5).
● Friday, June 23, 6:30 & 7pm, Twilight Tours of Graycliff: Extended (two-hour), and Standard (one-hour) Tours of Graycliff at the golden hour! Culminating in the major inaugural fundraising party on the historic site:
● Saturday, June 24, 7pm, Summer Solstice Garden Party presented by Buffalo Spree: Great food, cash bar by Tipsy Trailer, performances by Buffalo Aerial Dance, Saranaide, and more! This is sure to be a fun evening where guests will be able to linger and experience the magic of the setting solstice sun. Tickets are $75/ pair $125. For those that would prefer not to drive, there are also a limited number of tickets available that include a shuttle from D’Youville University AND a complimentary drink for $115/each. Proceeds will support Graycliff’s year-round operations.
Graycliff expects each of these events to sell out. Tickets are on sale now for each event at www.experiencegraycliff.org, or by calling Graycliff Staff at 716-947-9217. For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Janice Worobec at jworobec@graycliffestate.org.
