Celebrated violinist and Chautauqua favorite Joshua Bell, and internationally acclaimed soprano Larisa Martinez, are excited to present “Voice and the Violin” for opening night of the Chautauqua Assembly season. The program features the artists’ arrangements of beloved arias and modern classics, highlighting the beauty and collaboration of violin and voice repertoire.
With a career spanning almost four decades, GRAMMY® Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell is one of the most celebrated artists of his era. Having performed with virtually every major orchestra in the world, Bell continues to maintain engagements as soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, conductor, and Music Director of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. Internationally acclaimed soprano Larisa Martinez, regarded as one of the most exciting talents of her generation, has been recently seen as Violetta in Wichita Grand Opera’s La Traviata, as Sophie alongside tenor Piotr Beczala in Werther, and as Maria in West Side Story alongside tenor Michael Fabiano.
