While there are tons of hotels, houses, school, and castles that are haunted throughout the country, if you’re tryna get scared out of your mind, nothing beats the bone-chilling idea of patients and inmates having been trapped in a place filled with straight jackets, surgical utensils, and electroshock machines.
Formally known as The Genesee County Poor House, Rolling Hills Asylum strives to enhance and preserve the rich history and architecture of Genesee County. In order to do so, they host many events every year, from Historical tours to those that fear chasers will absolutely appreciate. With the Spring months ahead of us (we’re hoping), in addition to their regularly scheduled tours and public ghost hunts, here are 7 events any Western New York ghost hunter will want to check out:
1. St Patty’s Day Hunt
Date: March 17
Cost: $35 per person
Time: 8pm – Midnight (No Late Entry)
Age: 18+, 14-17 MUST be accompanied by a parent and have valid Photo ID
Warm up with a soup and salad buffet, then prepare yourself for the Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner. There will be a ghost hunt and Special Surprise Giveaways that follow.
2. Paint Night and Explore
Date: March 24
Cost: $50 per person
Time: 7 p.m. to 11 P.M. (NO LATE ENTRY)
Age: 18+, 14-17 MUST be accompanied by a parent and have valid Photo ID
Come paint with artist Edie Lee! Edie pre-draws out the image – you have all the fun of painting! You MUST choose your design from those provided in advance at time of payment. All supplies are provided! This Includes a tour of RHA.
3. Adult Easter Egg Hunt plus Ghost Hunt
Date: March 31
Cost: $45 per person
Time: 7 P.M. to Midnight (show up 20 minutes prior to scheduled time)
Hunt the halls of Rolling Hills Asylum looking for eggs. Guests have to redeem the eggs they find so they can get prizes. The golden egg holds a gift valued at at least $50.
4. RHA Blanket Night. SOLD OUT
Date: April 13th
Cost: $35 per person
Time: 8 P.M. to Midnight
Age: 18+, 14-17 MUST be accompanied by a parent and have valid Photo ID
This is your last chance to get a Rolling Hills Asylum fleece blanket and experience a ghost hunt on Friday the 13th.
5. Shopping With the Spirits Psychic and Vendor Fair
Date: May 6
Cost: Admission is Free with $10 Tour
Time: 10 A.M. to 6 P.M.

6. SyFy’s Ghost Hunter’s – Steve & Tango
Date: June 8 & 9 – NEARLY SOLD OUT
Cost: $139 per person
Time: 6:30p – 2:00am
Age: 18+, 14-17 MUST be accompanied by a parent and have valid Photo ID. This event includes a psych Hold Tour with a ghost hunt.
7. Ghost Asylum’s Tennessee Wrath Chasers
Date: August 18
Cost: $99 – $119 per person
Time: 7 P.M. to 2 AM.
Age: 18+, 14-17 MUST be accompanied by a parent and have valid Photo ID. This event includes a psych Hold Tour with a ghost hunt.
