  • Crazy… or wise? The traditional wisdom of indigenous cultures often contradicts modern views about a mental health crisis. Is it a “calling” to grow or just a “broken brain”? The documentary CRAZYWISE explores what can be learned from people around the world who have turned their psychological crisis into a positive transformative experience.
On Tuesday, October 30, the community is invited to attend the screening of Crazywise – a documentary film that broaches the topic of mental illness, and breaks it down by examining various cultures throughout the world. By doing this, the intention is to contrast those findings with our Western treatments and views of mental illness, to see how people that would typically be diagnosed as mentally ill are often times viewed as gifted in other cultures.
Panel discussion to follow film, moderated by Ken Houseknecht, Executive Director of Mental Health Advocates of WNY.
