Event Category: Classes / Workshops
We are teaming up with Dailys Catering for a week of cooking, creating, and learning! This camp is designed to introduce kids to the art of cooking and how it can translate in and out of the kitchen.
We will be diving into the wide world of pizza and pasta, learn to make our favorite breakfast foods, perfect our go-to junk food, and learn how to shop local with a day trip to the farmers market. Working on new recipes every day we will document through photography, drawing and note taking so we can create our very own cook book.
Each day will be spent creating both in the kitchen as well as the studio. We will begin in the kitchen and end our day in the art studio. There will be a one hour break in-between to sit and enjoy what you’ve made, so bring your appetite!
At the end of camp, we will be challenging the kids to a friendly game of CHOPPED! They will be given an allowance to purchase local and farm fresh goods, a day to conjure up a recipe, and on the last day they will have the morning to create their culinary masterpiece.
**Registrants should be open minded, able to follow instructions, and be ready to use a chef knife.
Material: All supplies are included. It is not necessary to pack lunches as they will be eating what they make, but they are welcome to and should bring a water bottle.
Instructors: Karen Mayhew of Dailys Catering & Vanessa Frost
The food at Dailys has been a staple in the East Aurora community since 1993. When owner Karen Mayhew first stepped out with her basket full of goodies to sell to the people of this village, she initiated a relationship that has continued to connect people through delicious food. Dailys offers so much more than private and corporate catering to the surrounding areas, and the range of services we offer has grown exponentially with the opening of our new shop in May, 2015.
As a full time artist and owner of MUSEjar, Vanessa finds inspiration and joy in teaching art. Art is a language that is often forgotten about and it’s amazing what happens once it’s tapped into. Her background is fine art and film production, with a degree from The University of Vermont. She loves mixed media, and currently works mainly with acrylics, but she is constantly exploring and experimenting with all other mediums.
NOTE: All classes require a minimum number of students to run. Please sign up in advance to help avoid cancellation due to low registration. In the case of a cancellation you will be notified prior and receive a full refund. Please read our summer camp policies.
