Learn the next steps in silver clay jewelry-making as each student creates a one of a kind, fine silver “Hearts and Vines” ring, just in time for Mother’s Day or as a special gift for yourself. The class will transform 7 grams of silver clay by layering small hearts and “snakes/vines” onto a silver clay band. When done, students will torch fire, polish and add an oxidized patina. This class will teach techniques used for creating jewelry at the intermediate level. Prior class experience is necessary. Each student will take home a finished piece of jewelry!
NOTE: The material fee is not included in the cost of the tuition. This fee is due to the instructor on the day of the class and will include 7 grams of Art Clay Silver, handouts, firing cost, misc. consumables, and all necessary materials to complete the project. 7 grams of silver will create a standard size ring. A larger quantity of silver will be needed for a men’s size ring at an additional cost. The tools provided during the class project will remain the property of the instructor. Since we will be working small with these hearts and vines, magnification will help (such as over the counter readers glasses). Also, short finger nails will make this project a little easier. The teacher will supply a snack, but lunch is not included so please bring a bagged lunch of your own.
A North Tonawanda native, Marie Gniazdowski started creating and selling art work before she even began grade school. She felt inspired by her father who was a welder, and chose to direct her artistic energies into metal working and jewelry design. After obtaining her Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in design, she began exhibiting and selling her work at nationally known craft shows. From there, she earned her Masters Degree in fine art from Rochester Institute of Technology’s School for American Craftsmen. Soon after, Marie began designing and creating models of jewelry and accessories. Now a Juried Artist from the Arts and Craftsman Guild and Art Clay Silver-Senior Instructor for the Aida Company, Marie designs and instructs others on how to create beautiful pieces with fine silver clay.
